The Mod Chalet is a place for our family and vacation rental guests to enjoy the sun, snow, mountains and all the area has to offer. We're a design oriented family and we hope to find guests who appreciate the cabin's clean, modern look that maintains its vintage, rustic feel. It's a perfect setup for one or two families, or several couples.

It's located in Camp Connell - 10 minutes up from Arnold, CA and 20 minutes down from the Bear Valley ski area. The Mod Chalet was built in 1978 and is over 5,100 feet in elevation. The 1.5 acre property and hill-side setting give the house a secluded feel and great views.

The Mod Chalet manages to feel both spacious and cozy. Soaring 20 foot pine ceilings and dramatic beams lead to a wall of windows that have a great view of Stanislaus National Forest, which borders the property. Our mix of new and vintage furnishings is both funky and comfortable. The large deck is a great place to relax, and the gentle sloping driveway can hold up to 5 cars. A massive natural rock wood burning fireplace with insert and central heat keep the cabin warm in the winter. The kitchen has just about everything you should need - except a dishwasher.

Although the Mod Chalet is away from it all, the Camp Connell General Store with a shop, food, gas station, and summer beer garden with live music is just down the hill. The Lube Room, a cool biker bar that has great bar food, is minutes away in Dorrington. Just a bit further down the road is Calaveras Big Trees State Park which has opportunities for hiking and many programs throughout the year.
Calaveras County is in the heart of gold country - rich in history and natural beauty. During the winter months, there are plenty of opportunities for sledding, snowshoeing, skiing at Bear Valley, and building forts in the snow. When spring arrives, don't miss out on opportunities for swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, stargazing and much more! If you are a wine connoisseur, there are plenty of tasting rooms down the hill in Murphys, as well as a grape stomping festival in the fall. Farther afield, South Tahoe and Yosemite are about 2 hours away. Check out the county's Calendar of Events to see what's happening during your visit. |
